This website shows the range of sculptures made during Juliet Simpson’s long life. She will be 90 in December 2024 and is still working. “COLONY CLAWBACK” or “This Really Matters” was finished September 2023, a new political approach.

A circular base for a bear sculpture of photos from Ukraine sealed in epoxy resin

The Russian bear’s frame is set up. The face needs to be modelled in wax and moulded so the perfect half size glass eyes can be inserted. Three different natural coloured  sawdusts are mixed with resin and pressed into the wire mesh – no dye is needed . Images of the domestic damage inflicted on Ukraine are downloaded from  news items and fixed with epoxy resin on a black painted plywood circle which fits on an oak barrel.
